Oxygen safety
- Never smoke while using oxygen, and stay out of rooms where others are smoking.
- Keep the concentrator at least two metres away from stoves, heaters, fireplaces and candles.
- Avoid petroleum-based creams around the nose; choose water-based products instead.
- Switch the device off when you are not using it, and never leave the cannula under the bedding.
- Make sure you have working smoke detectors at home.
- Inspect the power cord regularly and stop using it if it is crushed or cracked.
- Plug the cord into the device first and into the wall socket second — the reverse order can produce sparks in an oxygen-rich environment.
